Mrs. Eliza J. Goble, 103, said to have been the oldest resident of Tippecanoe County and possibly the oldest person in this part of Indiana, died Saturday at the Scott Nursing Home, 1100 North Ninth Street. Her funeral was held Monday morning at the Soller-Baker Funeral Home, with burial in Grand View Cemetery, West Lafayette.

Mrs. Goble, 103, last December 23, was born in 1840 at Milledgeville, south of Lebanon, in Boone County. There was some Indian blood in her ancestors. She left there in girlhood and spent the remainder of her life in Crawfordsville, Illinois and Indiana, coming to Lafayette about 16 years ago. Her frst husband was Peter Melvin. Her health became impaired about 4 years ago and for sometime she has been living at the nursing home. She was a member of the United Christian Church.

Surviving are her husband, John H. Goble, 1014 North 8th Street; and six children by the former marriage: Mrs. Mattie Everett, Crawfordsville; Mrs. Carrie Rogers, Lafayette; Frank Melvin, Kansas, Illinois and two daughter also living in Illinois.
